In 1925, Mr. William “W.G.” McLean established Rhyne and McLean Undertaking Company and was the first licensed embalmer in Gastonia. In 1927, he moved to a new location and changed the name to McLean Undertaking Company.

Inspired by a willingness to give of himself when others were in a time of difficulty, Mr. McLean built a strong reputation of trust within the community. His philosophy has been handed down through four generations of McLean Funeral Service. The three key principles are:
