Mavis Gracie Hawk Wooten, 88, formerly of Gastonia, died March 2, 2010 at Autumn Care of Waynesville.
She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Ernest Jourman and Cora Towery Hawk.
She was a legal secretary and a court reporter at the Gaston County Courthouse for many years and then worked for the American Red Cross for 10 years where she retired. She won the Elizabeth Dole National Award for support staff from the American Red Cross. She was a member of Linden Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She always said she was a "would be" actress and was a lover of poetry and cats. She was a mother who loved her two girls.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Easler and husband Don of Iron Station, Sandra Greenalch and husband Bob of Clyde, grandchildren, John Easler and wife Mindy of Mt Holly, Andrea Easler of Gastonia, Jason Greenalch of Asheville and great grandchildren Jacob Easler, Caleb Easler and Matthew Duffy.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with Rev. Mike Lineberger officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Linden Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 205 S. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052.
