Mary "Maw Maw" Reece Meek Dye, 98, of Gastonia died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Belaire Health Care in Gastonia.
She was a native of Gaston County and the daughter of the late Payton Andrew Meek and Addie Wilder Ferguson Meek.
Funeral service will be 2 PM Monday January 3, 2011 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Brown and Reverend Steve Hensley officiating.
Interment will be in Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM Sunday, January 2, 2011 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gstonia.
Maw Maw was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church for over sixty five years and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a loving mother, grandmother and an inspiration to many.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Dye, David Dye and wife Libby all of Gastonia. daughters, Barbara Glenn, Ann Green, Jerri Wright, Hazel Glover and husband Roy, Joyce Barbee and husband Jack all of Gastonia, Linda Rogers and husband Johnny of Clover, S.C., daughter-in-law, Carolyn Dye of Clover, S.C. special nieces, Charlotte Pendleton of Gastonia and Suzette Hargroder of Hattiesburg, Miss., sisters-in-law, Dorothy Davis and Magalene Jacobs, seventeen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Hobert Dye, sons, Harold Dye and Donald Dye, brothers, Dave Meek, Hamp Meek, Bill Meek, Howard Meek, Clyde Meek, Frank Meek, Arthur Meek, and Leonard Meek, sisters, Sue Hargroder, Ruth Pendleton and Viola Meek, daughter-in-law, Sue Dye.
Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers, Dwain Barbee, Brett Dye, Chris Dye, Rhodney Rogers, Grady Dye, Rusty Dye, Scott Rogers, Ronnie Dye, Bill Wright and Mike Glover
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sandy Plains Baptist Church Building Fund 5323 Union Road Gastonia, N.C. 28056
