Stephen Bland Dolley, Jr. , beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lawyer passed away on January 6, 2011.
Steve was born on November 16, 1929 in Gaston County to Eunice Pennington Dolley and Colonel Stephen Bland Dolley. Steve attended Belmont Abbey College and UNC– Chapel Hill where he received a BA in journalism. He graduated from UNC Law School in 1954 and practiced law in Gaston County until the day of his death. He was very involved with the Democratic Party and relished his roll in the North Carolina Legislature where he served for eight (8) years. He introduced the first minimum wage law in North Carolina. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Gaston Post 23 American Legion; where he was a past commander. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gastonia where he served as teacher of the Steve Dolley Bible Class. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed collecting fire arms.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dolley was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Julia Page Dolley, and his sister, Aurora.
Steve is survived by five (5) daughters; Rev. Frances Dolley Adams and husband Mike of Levelcross, NC, Page Dolley Morgan and husband Judge James W. Morgan of Shelby, NC, Eunice Dolley Rice and husband Jerry of Antigo, WI; Edith Dolley Lake and husband Mike of Chesnee, SC and Rebecca Dolley Willoughby and husband Eric of Euharlee, GA. Steve is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Michael, Kelli, Kim and Jim Adams; Sam and Jay Morgan; Juliana, John and Rebecca Rice; Andy and Zach Lake and Sarah, Stephen and Hannah Willoughby.
Funeral service will be conducted by Dr. Ray Ammons at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Gastonia. The family will receive friends in the Church Fellowship Hall from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 PM, Sunday. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.

The family will be at the home of Page and Jim Morgan at 1225 Brookwood Drive, Shelby, NC.
