Obituary for Sandra Colter Digby

On November 30, 2018, Sandra Colter Digby, 71, suddenly and unexpectedly passed from this earth. She was born on October 24, 1947, in Macon, Georgia to the late Alfred Marion and Dorothy Woodard Colter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Ronald Wyman Digby; her eldest son, Scott Digby and his wife, Donna; her daughter, Amanda Gilstorf and her husband, Shawn; and her youngest son, Benjamin Digby and his wife, Erika; her seven grandchildren, Katie, Josh, Gwendolyn, Danny, David, Allison, and Natalia; and her sister, Sharon Morrison.

She attended Women’s College of Georgia and worked several years for the US Army writing commendations for distinguished servicemen prior to committing her life to raising and fostering her loving family. Over the course of her 41 years in Gastonia, while always devoted to the care of her family, Sandra was active in many organizations and charities including Medical Auxiliary (serving as President), Heart Society of Gaston County, Junior League of Gaston County, Gastonia Debutante Club, Meals on Wheels, Presbyterian Women of the Church, Gaston Day School (numerous positions and activities), and Home Owners Association of Randolph Park (serving as Secretary).

Sandra had an enormous interest in horseback riding and owned and operated Rose Hill Farm and Equestrian Training Center in Dallas, NC for over 15 years, which included specializing in therapeutic riding programs for special needs children.

Sandra embodied many fine qualities, but her life centered on her family and friends. She was a warm and caring person who never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.
